Fiber Optical Sensing using Draw Tower Gratings

FBGS International is a Belgium based company specialised in the development and commercialisation of Fibre Bragg Gratings (FBG) for fiber optical sensing and telecommunication applications. With its roots going back to I.D. FOS Research and FOS&S, a former spin-off of the VUB under the leadership of Prof. Dr. ir. Barel, the company was founded in 2011 and became a fully owned subsidiary of FBGS Technologies in Germany, together active as FBGS. FOS&S (Fiber Optic Sensors & Sensing Systems) was a company specialising in the development and commercialisation of fiber optical sensing systems, based on more than 12 years of experience acquired by I.D. FOS Research. FBGS core business is the manufacturing of high strength Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) using draw tower technology, where the grating array is written during the drawing process of the fiber. This automated process results in very high quality, cost effective Fiber Bragg Gratings with unique characteristics that make them extremely well suited for temperature and strain monitoring as well as Fiber Tagging.
