What is your role at VUB TechTransfer?
I hold two roles at VUB TechTransfer: IP & Licensing Administrator and Paralegal.
What are your main responsibilities in this role?
As an IP & Licensing Administrator, I support our IP Manager, Hugo Loosvelt, with the administrative follow-up of VUB’s IP portfolio. As a Paralegal, I provide support to our Legal team with legal inquiries. I am responsible for the follow-up within the legal mailbox and aim to offer initial assistance whenever possible to ensure the efficient handling of further legal processes.
How long have you been with VUB TechTransfer?
I’ve been working for VUB TechTransfer since April 2017, where I started as Contract Manager.
How have you seen TechTransfer evolve in recent years and how do you look back on it?
In recent years, I’ve seen both the growth of our team and the digitalization of our processes. These developments have contributed to a more efficient workflow, where we are becoming increasingly professional both in terms of staff and technology.
What is the project you are most proud of at VUB TechTransfer?
Since joining VUB TechTransfer, I quickly developed a strong interest in the legal aspects of our work, which I decided to implement into my professional development. This led me to start a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Practice, which I successfully completed after an internship within the Legal department at TechTransfer. Throughout this journey, I juggled full-time work with raising a one-year-old daughter at the start of my studies, which made the accomplishment all the more rewarding.
What is an ideal day off for you?
My ideal day off would be spent in Italy, enjoying the sunshine with a refreshing Limoncello Spritz in one hand, my daughter on my lap, and surrounded by my family. We'd spend the day playing games, laughing, and cherishing those simple, special moments together.
Last but not least, we have to know, what is your favorite invention of all time?
Definitely the washing machine! As a mom with a 5-year-old, it’s a lifesaver. Between all the messy playtime and the endless laundry, the washing machine has become my unsung hero, making life a lot easier.
