The European Research and Innovation Support (ERIS) team is organising a Grant Writing Workshop for Humanities and Social Sciences researchers at VUB on 22 November!
Join us to learn tips and tricks on how to successfully secure funding for collaborative European projects. Unlock the potential of your ideas and enhance your grant writing skills with us!
What is this workshop about?
This Grant Writing Workshop will provide practical guidance on how to write a successful European proposal for applied research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The focus of this workshop is on applications to Pillar 2 of the Horizon Europe framework, which requires a consortium of at least three partners from three European Member States.
Who is the target audience?
This workshop mainly targets postdoctoral researchers, ZAPs, and business developers in the Humanities and Social Sciences who aim to apply for European funding in the upcoming months, or who have already applied for European funding in the past but want to further improve their grant writing skills. We also reserve some seats for senior PhD students who are involved in developing collaborative project proposals.
How is the workshop structured?
The workshop will consist of:
(i) trainers’ presentations
(ii) hands-on exercises
(iii) a testimonial from researchers who have successfully applied for EU funding (Professor Lucas Melgaço and Dr Mattias De Backer)
The event will end with a networking lunch during which you can chat with the trainers and your fellow researchers.
Practicalities
Date and time: 22 November, from 9.30 am to 13:00 pm (followed by lunch)
Location: PL5.5.61, Pleinlaan 5, VUB Etterbeek campus
Registration
The workshop is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.
You can register here.
It is not possible to attend the workshop online.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
In order to ensure high-quality and personalized training and feedback, the spots for the workshop are limited to 30 people. Therefore, we will adopt a first-come-first-served approach, and give priority to personnel who are submitting a proposal in the upcoming months. If the number of registrations is very high, we will create a waiting list and we will contact the participants on the list in case of cancellations.
Individual feedback
If you are already working on a proposal, you can receive personalized feedback on your proposal idea in a follow-up individual session. Complete this template (maximum 5 pages) by November 17, send it to us, and we will get back to you to schedule a meeting.
Do you have questions?
If you have questions about this workshop, please contact the ERIS team at:

We hope to see you there!
