In the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases at UZ Brussel, a patient with Dunbar's syndrome had surgery through robotic surgery for the first time. A robot-assisted procedure is less invasive for the patient, which means that he/she has less pain, recovers faster and has to stay 3 to 4 days less in the hospital.
In addition, the surgeons can work much more accurately compared to a traditional open operation. This new approach is a step forward in the treatment of Dunbar syndrome and an extension of the expertise of robot-assisted interventions at UZ Brussel.
