Fertiga is a spin-off company from one of the global IVF leading centers; UZ Brussel. UZ Brussel has been pioneering in IVF, with the first ICSI baby worldwide born in 1992.
Fertiga developed a test (called the Aurora Test) that doubles the chance of success with a first IVF attempt to more than 60 percent. With the Aurora Test, they aim to help minimize the cost, time and stress of infertility treatments. The Aurora Test provides valuable insight into the quality of each of the retrieved eggs. It predicts which egg has the highest potential to develop into a baby.
The pioneer behind this technology is Johan Smitz. Johan has been involved for more than 10 years in the development of new diagnostic modalities to predict egg competence for pregnancy outcome in women undergoing ivf after hormone stimulation.
