Trustworthy AI
Bikon is a spin-off founded in 2026 from Ghent University (UGent) and Vrije University Brussels (VUB). They turn complex regulatory knowledge into correct, verifiable and trustworthy answers.
Generic AI models often provide incorrect answers with total confidence. In regulated sectors, this poses a significant risk.
Bikon solves this by taking a different approach:
- The technology is built on carefully selected, up-to-date information and traceable sources, fully tailored to the domain at hand.
- It first breaks down complex queries into sub-questions, answers them using the correct data, and finally merges these responses into a single, accurate, and comprehensive answer.
- In an extensive test involving 170 pension-related questions—their first use case, co-authored by experts—Bikon outperformed even the top-tier international AI models.
- This spin-off demonstrates that domain-specific AI will play a crucial role in sectors where precision and reliability are essential, such as taxation, employment law, and social security.
Bikon's domain-specific AI agent is developed by Kris Boudt, Arno De Block, Feliciaan De Palmenaer, Andries Fluit, and Yanick Inghels, researchers at UGent and VUB.
