Led by Prof. Dr. Thierry VandenDriessche and Prof. Dr. Marinee Chuah from the Department of Gene Therapy & Regenerative Medicine, CARDIOFIX is dedicated to developing an innovative gene therapy platform to tackle cardiovascular disease (CVD). With 17.7 million deaths annually attributed to CVD worldwide, according to the World Health Organisation, innovative therapeutic approaches are urgently needed.
CARDIOFIX focuses on enhancing gene therapy effectiveness to boost therapeutic gene expression in the heart. By testing prototype vectors in preclinical models, CARDIOFIX aims to advance these therapies towards clinical application.
