I studied at the VUB and obtained a master’s degree and PhD in Computer Software Engineering. I co-founded VUB spin-off weave.ly together with Jesse Zaman, and am currently responsible for business development (marketing/sales/fundraising/hiring).

(Advanced) Starter SeminarsWHY?I wanted to create a spin-off company with a fellow post-doc at my lab. Having both zero experience or knowledge regarding building and running a business we sought to learn the basic of entrepreneurship, or as Marc would put it: we wanted to get a clear view of our known unknowns. ASSETSThe (Advanced) Starter Seminars provide the best bird’s-eye perspective on entrepreneurship i’ve seen so far. You won’t get a detailed course on any of the subjects but you’ll have the necessary knowledge and references to continue the journey yourself: marketing/sales/fundraising/.... For example, in preparing our first investor pitch deck I used the slides of the relevant seminar as a starting point. |
What inspires you?
I get a lot of energy in talking to people. Nothing gets me inspired more than having a chat with someone that is passionate about what they’re doing, whether that’s professionally or personally.
Starting a business?
Jesse and I ended up creating weave.ly. At the time of writing we are finalising our pre-seed round and hiring our first employees. Our motivation was clear since the beginning, we wanted to take Jesse’s PhD technology and build something real and big with it. Real in the sense that it would surpass ourselves, both as a technology (i.e. adoption by users) and a business (i.e. sharing ownership of the project with employees) and big in the sense that we want to scale as fast as possible and exit weave.ly within a 5 to 10 year window.
