INTERREG North Sea 2021-2027: First call open!
The first call for project applications of our our NWE Programme 2021-2027 will open on 22 March 2022 and close on 15 June 2022.
The factsheets provide a summary of the territorial challenges and opportunities, objectives, target groups, activities, and results for each each Specific Objective (SO). These are designed to help potential applicants understand what is expected from projects under each topic and you can find more info here.
- Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience taking into account ecosystem-based approaches
- Enhancing nature protection, biodiversity and reducing all forms of pollution
- Promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Promoting renewable energy
- Promoting the transition to a circular and resource efficient economy
- Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies
- Enhancing the effectiveness and inclusiveness of labour markets and access to quality employment through developing social infrastructure and promoting social economy
- Ensuring equal access to health care and fostering resilience of health systems, including primary care, and promoting the transition from institutional to family-and-community-based care
- Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation

INTERREG North Sea 2021-2027 funds are allocated to project within four main priority themes that are of primary importance in the North Sea Region, including three spotlight themes of of digitalisation, rural-urban linkages, and strengths and challenges in the North Sea basin.
Priority 1: Robust and smart economies
Specific objective 1.1: Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies
Specific objective 1.2: Developing skills for smart specialization, industrial transition, and entrepreneurship
Priority 2: Green transition
Specific objective 2.1: Promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Specific objective 2.2: Promoting renewable energy in accordance with Directive (EU) 2018/2001, including the sustainability criteria set out therein
Specific objective 2.3: Developing smart energy systems, grids, and storage outside the Trans-European Energy Network (TEN-E)
Specific objective 2.4: Promoting the transition to a circular and resource efficient economy
Specific objective 2.5: Promoting sustainable multimodal urban mobility, as part of transition to a net zero carbon economy
Priority 3: A climate resilient North Sea Region
Specific objective 3.1: Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account eco-system based approaches
Specific objective 3.2: Enhancing protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity, and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution
Priority 4: Better governance
Specific objective 4.1: Other actions to support better cooperation governance
The call is open for both small-scale projects (deadline 07 March) and regular projects, either an expression of interest (deadline 07 March) or a full application (deadline 22 April).
