Luceda Photonics, a spin-off company of VUB B-PHOT, imec and the Photonics Research Group of the Ghent University, announced its acquisition by SMTX Technologies Singapore Pte. Ltd., part of Semitronix Group. Semitronix is internationally recognised for its expertise in yield enhancement, data analytics and wafer-level testing in the semiconductor industry.
This strategic partnership combines Luceda’s expertise in photonic integrated circuit (PIC) design software with Semitronix’s advanced semiconductor solutions. With Semitronix’s scale, investment, and complementary capabilities, Luceda is set to accelerate its mission of enabling “first-time-right” photonic chip designs and expanding globally, while maintaining their Belgian roots and operational independence. Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from UGhent and VUB, the company is headquartered in Ghent with a growing international team.
