The Memory clinic Bru-BRAIN is included in the European Alzheimer's consortium, making it internationally recognised.
Bru-BRAIN is led by Sebastiaan Engelborghs, head of Neurology of UZBrussel and NEUR-o-AIMS, an IoF-funded consortium. The memory clinic was founded at the beginning of 2021 with UZBrussels as a home base. Bru-BRAIN implements a multidisciplinary approach using experts from neurology, geriatrics and psychiatry. The clinic aims to give people advice at short notice from different experts, and those experts can also discuss the case together. Depression, for example, is one of the first symptoms of someone struggling with juvenile dementia, this is why it is important to diagnose it across different scientific possibilities.
Being included in the European Alzheimer's consortium does not only mean they are internationally recognised but also that they meet international standards in terms of patient care and scientific research.
