A powerful new European photonics initiative — PhotonHub PHACTORY — has launched under the leadership of Brussels Photonics (B-PHOT) at VUB, coordinated by Professor Hugo Thienpont. Backed by €15 million from the European Commission, the programme aims to accelerate product innovation using photonics across industries.
PhotonHub PHACTORY offers a streamlined “one-stop-shop” for companies to access top European labs, coaching, and EU subsidies covering up to 85% of project costs. The goal: enable faster and broader uptake of photonics technologies for improved performance, sustainability, and competitiveness.
Tailored support includes a launchpad for start-ups, a scaling club for high-growth ventures, and strategic business coaching for SMEs and larger firms. Applications are open year-round via photonhub.eu.
“We are delighted to continue to promote and support photonics innovation through PhotonHub PHACTORY. This €15M programme funded by the European Commission will be instrumental in creating opportunities for collaborative innovation projects for wide-ranging sectors over the next four years, enhancing European sovereignty in this rapidly growing industry,” said Prof. Thienpont.
