ABSTRACT:
A robust standardization roadmap towards boosting innovation to market for swappable Battery Systems for L-cat vehicles deployment as a major contribution to safe, secure, resources and environmental friendly and interoperable decarbonization solution of the Mobility-Transport sector.
AIM (WHAT)
The main ambition of STAN4SWAP is to develop a standardization roadmap for swappable battery systems for L-cat vehicles. This roadmap will be a full part of the EU standardization work program. It will also contribute to branding EU standards and promoting their adoption/consideration. Furthermore, robust standardization will represent an essential step towards coherent, complementary, and efficient development of standards in support of sustainable development of cities and communities. Concretely, the project will ensure interoperability among different vehicles and between vehicles and swapping stations for users and logistics.
METHODOLOGY (HOW)
To achieve its ambition, the STAN4SWAP consortium has set up a work plan divided into 8 Work Packages, whose tasks revolve around: (i) technical and market state of the art; (2) regulatory and standardisation state of the art; (iii) needs for swap battery system deployment; (iv) needs for pre-normative research; (v) standardisation gaps; and (vi) EU standardisation roadmap for swap battery system. Regular stakeholder engagement via workshops will be a key part of the project. Furthermore, STAN4SWAP will build upon the work of existing initiatives and organizations such as European Partnership for Batteries (BATT4EU), the European Battery Alliance, relevant projects like LENS (L-vehicles Emissions and Noise mitigation Solutions ), and other EU projects.
IMPACT (WHY)
STAN4SWAP will make multiple economic, environment, societal, and scientific contributions, including: enhanced excellence of the EU standardization at global level; inputs to new business models for the battery market; boost to repairability, decisions of second life and logistics of recycling; increased capacity of charging stations; and enhanced quality of life in urban areas.
