Title: Zero Emission, flexible vehicle platforms with modular powertrains serving the long-haul Freight EcoSystem
EU nr: 101095856
Contact: Prof. dr. Omar Hegazy
The ERIS team is happy to announce that Prof. dr. Omar Hegazy, member of MOBI VUB (Electromobility Research Centre) and head of EPOWERS Research Group, has been awarded an EU grant as part of a new consortium ZEFES “Zero Emission, flexible vehicle platforms with modular powertrains serving the long-haul Freight EcoSystem”. Prof. Hegazy is the project coordinator.
Long-haul Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) need to become more affordable and reliable, more energy efficient, with a longer range per single charge, and a reduced charging time to meet the user’s needs. Next to those, there is a real need to take zero-emission long-haul goods transport in Europe to the next level by executing real-world demonstrations of BEVs and FCEVs spread all over Europe
The ZEFES project aims at providing innovative and affordable technologies and solutions to accelerate the electrification of Long-haul heavy-duty trucks. All ZEFES-solutions will be demonstrated in Real-World Demonstrations of long-haul BEVs and FCEVs across Europe to take zero-emission long-haul goods transport in Europe to the next level.
The ZEFES consortium of 40 partners (including associated and affiliated) from 15 countries brings together all required knowledge and expertise to achieve the project goals and objectives.
The project will start on January 1st, 2023, for a period of 42 months and is awarded a total budget of 23M€.
